How to create a database backup and then successfully restore it? As a test environment, we have two identical computers with Windows 10 and Installed Payments. Both of them have access to a single directory, which will simulate for us, for example: a flash drive, in which we would transfer data and in a moment we will transfer them crosswise from one to the other.
There are two, because there are two different ways to save data in the Payer program. One so-called MS Access, the other MSSQL. It sounds a bit complicated, but I will explain everything in a moment.
The first MSSQ:. to find out what type of database we have, just click in the place: administration - settings - databases. And in one case it is MS. Here it shows us nothing more, nothing less just the storage of data data in one particular file. This is a fairly simple solution. Recommended if we are to work on Payer ourselves. The big advantage is simply simplicity with copying such a data base. Its disadvantage is that we are not able to easily share, or many people at once work on the Payer database.
The second way is MSSQL. This is then working on the MSSQL database. Then the big advantage of this is that many computers at once can connect to this database and work on it in parallel. The disadvantage is that it is a bit more difficult, for example, to make a copy of something like this in a simple way.
By the way, transferring between SQL and MS Access is possible, but sometimes it can be much more complicated. As for copies, which is probably the most important thing: some kind of automatic copies, in the case of MS Access it is enough to simply make sure that this file is copied somewhere in some semi-automatic, automatic way or through Dropbox, Cloud or Next Cloud, or whatever comes to mind. In the case of MSSQL, this is already a slightly more complicated matter. They should, it's done by automatic scripts. This is already a little more complicated. But remember always make sure to have a backup of one kind or another. Let's protect ourselves in advance, not after the fact.
